Position Purpose
The Assistant Engineer role is where you build real reps. You will support civil design and project delivery while learning how good judgment and clean execution protect schedule and reduce surprises.
This is not a “watch and learn” seat. You will be expected to contribute daily, ask good questions, take feedback seriously, and improve fast.
What You'll Work On
- Plan set support: grading, drainage, utilities, and site layouts
- Technical drainage studies, traffic studies, water network analysis
- Calculations and exhibits that support design decisions
- Civil 3D drafting and design updates under PDG standards
- Due diligence research
- Internal coordination so PMs and PEs get clean inputs on time
- QC basics: checking completeness, consistency, and constructability
Key Responsibilities
Design and Production Support
- Assist with grading, drainage, and utility plan preparation in Civil 3D.
- Prepare calculations, exhibits, and supporting documentation under guidance of senior engineers.
- Keep drawings and deliverables organized, accurate, and aligned with PDG standards.
Quality and Follow Through
- Learn how we review work: checklists, redlines, and repeatable quality
- Correct comments quickly and completely.
- Flag missing information, conflicts, or unclear direction early instead of pushing it downstream.
Growth and Development
- Build technical skill through real project work, coaching, and repetition.
- Learn why decisions matter, not just how to draft them.
- Take on more ownership over time as you demonstrate reliability and judgment.
- Develop grading, drainage, and utility designs that are constructible and approvable.
- Prepare calculations, drainage exhibits, and supporting documentation that hold up in review.
- Produce clear, complete civil plans using Civil 3D (and PDG standards) that reduce rework and revisions.
